During September, several traffic measures came into effect in connection with the completion works on the D4 motorway. Two sections and a significant part of a third section may be put into operation under temporary traffic restrictions by the end of the month, following the laying of a new asphalt layer. For some remaining sections of the D4, drivers should prepare for short-term closures affecting the motorway exits, entrances, and traffic lanes, according to Via Salis spokesperson Daniela Pedret. "Since traffic restrictions are constantly changing, we urge drivers to carefully follow the temporary road signs," emphasized the spokesperson. From September 16, the nearly five-kilometer Skalka – Háje section is fully usable in both directions and both lanes. On this section, originally opened in 2017, a newly laid asphalt layer, safety bays, and the installation of the Motorway Information System technology are part of its modernization. Did you know? The construction of the D4 motorway is the first major infrastructure project implemented through a public-private partnership (PPP). Traffic is similarly managed on the Nová Hospoda – Krašovice section, which was modernized in a similar manner and was originally opened in 2004. The completion works on the D4 began in 2021, and currently, nearly 97.5 percent of the project is finished. "The D4 motorway Via Salis project is nearing its end, and the current traffic restrictions are among the last," said Pedret.
By December, the D4 will be fully operational. We thank all drivers for their caution and attention. Please, carefully follow the temporary road signs," stated Daniela Pedret. Regardless of the weather, from mid-September, the 5.5-kilometer Háje – Milín section and the 2.5-kilometer section from Milín to the Těchařovice junction have also opened in both directions with traffic flowing in one lane each way. "The builders are finishing works on the side or the central divider of the motorway. Therefore, traffic in this section may flow alternatively in the outer (slow) or inner (fast) lanes," outlined the spokesperson. On the part of the Lety – Čimelice section, from Nerestce to the Lety junction, traffic can flow in a 1+1 system in the left lane by the end of September. Significant traffic changes are also expected around the Mirotice roundabout where it intersects with the road II/121. Here, the traffic scheme will often change, including access to the motorway. "Works are ongoing along the entire length of the motorway daily, on weekends, and under any weather conditions. During peak efforts, more than a thousand people and hundreds of machines worked simultaneously on the motorway," concluded VINCI Construction CS group spokesperson Iveta Štočková.
