MOTORWAY VIGNETTE Czech Republic

To use Czech motorways, you must purchase an electronic vignette (e-vignette) before using the toll sections.

Motorway and expressway sections may be used against payment of a toll, while secondary roads and main roads can be used free of charge.
The toll obligation applies to vehicles with at least four wheels and a maximum permissible weight of under 3.5 tonnes.

* Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes (lorries, buses, heavy goods vehicles) do not purchase a vignette; instead, they pay within the distance-based Czech toll system (mýto).

Vignette types and prices

The e-vignette is available for four periods of validity:

• 1-day e-vignette
• 10-day e-vignette
• 30-day e-vignette
• Annual e-vignette, valid for exactly 365 days from the selected start date

* Trailers (utility trailers, caravans) are not subject to a toll: the vignette is required only for the towing vehicle under 3.5 tonnes, and the weights are not added together.

The toll calculation is displayed by the system once the vehicle and journey details have been entered.

ℹ️ Online purchase and required data

Payment of the road usage fee is made online. Registering the vehicle takes just a few minutes. The following data are required:

• Registration number
• Country of registration
• E-mail address
• Mobile phone number

When placing the order (registering the vehicle), you must enter the vehicle's registration number and the country in which the vehicle is registered, then select the start date and the period of validity of the vignette type. The start of validity can be set up to 30 days in advance.
The system requires an e-mail address and a mobile phone number for contact purposes. The mobile phone number is required because the link to the confirmation is also sent by SMS, ensuring that the user receives the confirmation even if the delivery of the e-mail is obstructed for any reason.

Upon successful payment, the system sends a receipt and a QR™ SMS code containing the vehicle's identification data and the period of validity of the purchased e-vignette.

⛔ Fines

The legislation (Zákon č. 13/1997) sets out in detail the fines that can be expected if someone enters a toll motorway or expressway without valid payment of the toll:

• On-the-spot fine: the police and the customs authority may impose a fine of up to CZK 5,000 on the spot
• In official proceedings, the fine may rise to CZK 20,000
• Enforcement is carried out by the police and the customs authority, using vehicles equipped with number plate recognition cameras and control gantries

Here, through the registration portal, the required proof of toll payment can be obtained online in just a few minutes, and it is recorded in the official register of the SFDI – the Státní fond dopravní infrastruktury.

Components of the registration service

With us, the e-vignette is available together with the Comfortia and Auxil services; their fee is part of the registration fee.

Under Comfortia – if you mistyped the data during the order – we will change the registration number, the country of registration, the vehicle category, the destination country or the start date of validity once free of charge; the system checks for obvious typing errors automatically and, if necessary, manually as well. At least 24 hours before the start of validity, the order can be cancelled and the full amount refunded, with the exception of the annual vignette.

Under Auxil, if you receive a fine for a reason related to your order, we provide legal assistance within 180 days of the order: we act as your authorised representative before the competent authority, submit an appeal, and initiate a payment deferral or a reduction on equitable grounds. In justified cases, we may also reimburse the amount of the fine, up to a maximum of EUR 300.
