We are resuming traffic on the renovated section of the D10 motorway near Mladá Boleslav.

October 25, 2024

On Monday morning, October 28, 2024, we will completely restore traffic on the renovated right lane of the D10 motorway, which runs towards Prague between Bezděčín and Písková Lhota, near Mladá Boleslav. The works began in August, resulting in partial traffic restrictions. Currently, the final touches are being made on site, which include replacing the panels of noise barriers, installing steel barriers, and refurbishing horizontal traffic signs. The reconstruction began on August 9. The subject of the public tender was the repair of the pavement and drainage based on project plans. These pertained to the repair of the left section of the D10 motorway leading towards Prague between 37.800 and 41.025 km based on the conclusions of diagnostic tests. Approximately 40,000 vehicles pass through this section daily, about 20% of which are freight and truck traffic. The project included the repair of certain bridge structures and noise barriers, as well as the restoration of drainage elements and traffic infrastructure accessories. The affected road section had numerous issues requiring repair, including comprehensive repairs, transverse and longitudinal cracks, local depressions, potholes, and formed wheel tracks.

The surface also showed defects in the wearing course, such as asphalt binder loss and deeper corrosion. The pavement structure was replaced along the entire road section with a thickness of 120 mm while maintaining the original height level. This also included the milling of the wearing course. Necessary local subgrade repairs were executed at a thickness of 60 mm. The plan also included replacing two bridge expansion elements, repairing the overpass at 40.8 km, cleaning, and locally restoring drainage, as well as grouting stone pavements. Work was also done on the noise barriers, where damaged elements were replaced.

Furthermore, throughout the entire construction, the steel edge barriers were replaced with a new type with higher protection, while the central, double-sided steel barriers were only replaced on 20% of the section based on the current condition and needs. The renovation is being carried out by M-SILNICE a.s., which submitted the most favorable bid among six applicants during the public procurement process, and the cost of the works is 47.29 million Czech crowns without VAT.
