In Slovakia, new developments regarding the highway network will take effect from August 1. One important change is that from August 1, 2024, highway sections bypassing major cities will be free to use.
This will affect around two hundred kilometers of highway sections, including areas around Bratislava, Nitra, Košice, Prešov, Poprad, Žilina, and Čadca.
Additionally, a one-day e-vignette will be introduced, which offers a favorable solution for occasional travelers and those transiting through the country.
Furthermore, the annual vignette, which was valid from January 1 to January 31 of the following year, will be discontinued. Instead, only the 365-day vignette will be retained, allowing buyers to choose the starting date of validity freely.
