Road closure and diversion on the M1 motorway: Difficulties expected for drivers
September 14, 2024
The renovation works starting on Saturday, September 14, at the M1-M0 junction will involve significant traffic restrictions, lasting until October 31. According to the statement from MKIF Magyar Concession Infrastructure Developer Ltd., partial closures of the motorway and junction branches are necessary due to asphalting works, waterproofing replacement, and other tasks.
During the closures, the following traffic changes are to be expected:
1. **Heading towards M0/Biatorbágy:**
- It will not be possible to enter the M0 from Highway 1 from either Biatorbágy or Budapest.
- The side leading towards Hegyeshalom on the M1 motorway will only be accessible via the Sasfészek-tó rest area.
- Those arriving from Budapest on Highway 1 should continue to the Sasfészek-tó rest area, where they can enter the M1.
2. **Heading towards Budapest:**
- It will be possible to enter the M1 and M0 at Biatorbágy from Highway 1.
- Access to the side of the M1 motorway leading towards Budapest will also be available through the Biatorbágy junction.
3. **Arriving from M1 Győr:**
- They will not be able to exit to Highway 1 at the M0 junction.
- They have the option to exit at the Sasfészek-tó rest area or Törökbálint.
Traffic signs will assist with guidance related to the reorganized traffic arrangement, providing drivers with accurate information on detours and exit options.
Travelers on the affected sections are advised to plan ahead and pay attention to posted road information to avoid congestion and traffic jams. MKIF urges road users to adhere to the temporary traffic order and changed traffic rules to ensure the safe and undisturbed reconstruction of the area.
