A7 in Hamburg: Today the Bahrenfeld motorway entrance will be relocated.

One of Hamburg's most heavily used freeway on-ramps will be closed for two and a half years. From today, it is no longer possible to directly access the A7 towards Hannover at Bahrenfeld. Instead, an unusual detour has been set up. From a bird's eye view, it resembles a massive slalom course, which at ground level is an efficient solution leading to the Othmarschen on-ramp. Those who want to get onto the freeway in the direction of the Elbtunnel from Bahrenfeld must first follow a new one-way road that runs parallel to the A7. After the first turn, they cross the freeway via a temporary bridge and then take the second turn next to the UCI cinema.

Anyone who makes two more turns will eventually find themselves at the Othmarschen on-ramp. Autobahn GmbH hopes to receive positive feedback. The traffic coordinator of Autobahn GmbH Nord, Karina Fischer, highlights: "This temporary solution has been built extremely efficiently. We hope that traffic participants will accept it and not try to look for detours on the surrounding streets." She asks people to trust the work of the traffic planners. However, the one-way road is narrow, with a speed limit of 40 km/h. The danger of traffic jams is also present on the new route due to the traffic lights. Detour for residents to their underground garage. For the residents of Jürgen-Töpfer-Straße, the disadvantage of this traffic system is that they can only reach their underground garage with a large detour. For cyclists and pedestrians, wide, obstacle-free routes have been set up. This detour is necessary because the A7 at Altona is getting a noise protection tunnel.
