On Monday, according to Dars forecasts, the first works will begin for the complete renovation of the Štajerske highway section, which is located between Slovenske Konjice and Dramljami. The work is being carried out by Pomgrad, CGP and Iskra under a €61.6 million contract, excluding tax. The activities belonging to the project are expected to last until 2026. Work is expected to start on Monday on the right edge of the lane towards Ljubljana, from the Slovenske Konjice junction to the Golo rebro tunnel. These will take place in roadside areas, about 1.5 kilometers long, Dars said this week. As two-lane traffic remains ensured, no significant changes in traffic flow are expected.
They emphasized that the large-scale works will start in the next spring season. According to a statement from Dars, the main works that will have a significant impact on traffic will take place in the tunnels and viaducts, which are due in the summer months of 2025 and 2026. At that time, the traffic will take place on one side of the highway, in two directions, in one lane in each direction. In the meantime, the works will continue in zones where it is not necessary to close the tunnels, allowing traffic on two narrowed lanes in both directions. Dars does not expect major traffic disruptions during this period. The reconstruction of the section of the highway in Štajersk between Slovenske Konjice and Dramljami will be carried out by the Pomgrad company with its partners, the companies CGP and Iskra.
The contract value of the project, which was signed in September this year, is EUR 61.6 million without VAT. The complete renovation covers the mentioned section, which includes a total of 13 kilometers of road surface in the direction of Ljubljana and Maribor, including the renovation of the drainage systems and the inner linings of the tunnels in the Pletovarje and Golo rebro branches, the construction of forced ventilation systems in all pipelines of both tunnels and the creation of escape routes in the at existing crossings in Pletovarje and Golo rebro tunnels. The renovation will also include the replacement of low-voltage equipment, the modernization of control systems in the tunnels, and the restoration of the Škedenj I, Škedenj II and Grapa structures. In addition, noise protection walls will be erected on the section between Slovenske Konjice and Dramljami. According to the Dars report, the average daily traffic on this section of the highway last year amounted to 52,500 vehicles, of which 6,500 were trucks traveling in both directions.
