Budapest-Balaton M7 Motorway Renovation: Summer Works and Detours This summer, as well as last year, efforts are being made to minimize traffic obstructions on the section of the M7 motorway between Budapest and Lake Balaton. The works are planned only on the three-lane road sections, and they will also take place on days with less traffic.
The renovations take place in June and July, between Tuesday and Friday. Sections between Székesfehérvár and the M0 motorway. Continuous traffic will be ensured on at least two lanes during the works on the side towards Budapest. Renovations are also being carried out at rest areas and junctions.
During the autumn period, it will be inevitable that the renovations will continue on the side towards Lake Balaton. The average age of the asphalt pavement on the section of the M7 motorway between Érd and Székesfehérvár is more than 15 years. The condition of this section of the track has recently deteriorated rapidly in several places. During the summer season, the damaged pavement will be replaced on at least an 8-kilometer section of the 54-kilometer section. It is part of the summer renovation of the M7
Hungary's largest expressway renovation project. Between 2023 and 2025, 538 kilometers of the 1,237 kilometers of roads taken over for operation and renovation by MKIF Zrt. will be renewed. The renovation work on the M7 motorway is key to ensuring safe and smooth traffic during the summer tourist season, while also serving longer-term infrastructure development goals.
