A total of five applicants submitted their applications for the tender for this concession. Now, the Department of Transportation will review all applications received and rank them based on the references provided. The first four most suitable groups of applicants will be invited to the next stage of the public procurement procedure, which will be a competitive dialogue. Global actors nominated for the application procedure submitted their applications in the field of PPP projects. The composition of the various consortia is made up of major Czech and foreign construction companies, as well as recognized international investment funds. The Opatovec - Staré Město (16.6 km) and Staré Město - Mohelnice (18.2 km) sections on the D35 highway will be designated as part of a public-private partnership. The selected concession company will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the 17 km section between Opatovec and Litomyšl, which will otherwise be constructed differently from the PPP model. A record budget is allocated for roads, ring roads and railways. They plan to spend more than 160 billion crowns by 2025. "Our intention is to complete the D35 highway connecting the Czech Republic and Moravia by 2029.
The last two sections, with a total length of 35 kilometers, will be realized and financed by the cooperation of the public and private sectors. Their construction costs are estimated at around 35 billion kroner," said Martin Kupka, Minister of Transport. The D35 highway is not only one of the most important transport corridors in the Czech Republic, connecting parts of the country in an east-west direction, but it also connects to the TEN-T network and the international "E" roads. After its completion, it will provide relief not only to the settlements through which the current highway 35 passes, but also to the overloaded D1 highway. This year, the D35 highway will be the most under construction route in the Czech Republic. By the end of the year, six sections, totaling 35.7 kilometers, will be started by ŘSD sp. In total, 64 km of construction will take place at the same time. The remaining 52.7 kilometers are planned to be started and completed in the coming years.
